- Just Joined -

I’ve just joined! So what now?
  • See our How It Works page for a quick overview on what you can do at Fancy a Round.
  • First of all, if you want to be notified of rounds being planned at particular clubs that you want to play at; then you can setup alerts so you get emailed whenever someone hosts a round matching your criteria.
  • Search for rounds by clicking the Search Rounds option from the menu.
  • Host your own round to be published online for other potential players to find or be alerted about and request to join.
Whats all this stuff on the Members Area page?

The Members Area page is where you are taken to immediately after signing in; it displays information about your account and activity. Here you will find the following:

  • Details on your next planned round in bold green text.

  • Rounds you have been alerted about by email allowing you to view and request to join them. Rounds you have found from the Search Rounds screen will also be listed here if you click the button to add them.

  • You can get a full view of the round by clicking the 'Select' link on the left.

  • The Member news section allows Fancy a Round administrators to keep you up to date with things.

  • On the right you'll see the 'Member Stats' section. This tells you how many rounds you are hosting (against your hosting quota), how many rounds planned by others you are joining and how many alerts you have setup.
What are these rounds I have been alerted about on the member’s page when I sign in?

Any rounds you have been emailed about following the alerts you have setup, will be listed here as well as rounds you have found and added on the Search Rounds page. This is so you can keep track of rounds you are interested in and allows you to easily request to join them.


- Hosting a round -

How do I host a round of golf?

To host a round click on organise a Round and enter details on time, location, round options and attendees. This will publish your round for others to find and will email members who have alerts setup matching your round criteria.

Match Types

We support a number of match types which, when organising a round, defaults to the standard round play type. You can find details and explanations on match types at golfalot.com

How do I cancel a round I have hosted?

Go to My Rounds, click 'Select' on the round you wish to cancel in the section entitled 'Rounds I Have organised'. Click 'Cancel Round' and you will be prompted to enter a brief reason for cancelling which is used to advise any members you may have when they get notified of the cancellation. Click 'Submit' to cancel the round.

How many rounds can I host?

Currently this is set to three to ensure the integrity of Fancy a Round. There are plans to provide options for enhancing a members round quota.

What can I do if I reach my round hosting quota?

You can either cancel an existing round or Contact Us.


- Search Rounds -

How do I search for rounds?

From the Search Rounds screen you can enter date ranges and narrow your search on golf clubs by selecting country and city or a specific club if you want. You can see results for all clubs in a city by leaving the club option at 'Any'.

What happens when I click to add a round on the search screen?

The round then moves to your Members Area page, the same place that rounds appear after you have been emailed about them. This is so you can keep track of any rounds you are considering or waiting to be approved for.


- Joining Rounds -

How do I join a round of golf?

To request to join a round you can search for a round from the Search Rounds screen or if you have setup alerts and have recieved an email alert you can select the round from your Members Area page and click 'Request to Join This Round'.

How do I pull out of a round I have requested to join?

In the My Rounds page click 'Select' under the section entitled 'Rounds I Jave Joined' and click 'Cancel My Attendance'. You will be prompted to enter a brief reason for cancelling which is used to advise the round host when they get notified of your cancellation. Click 'Submit' to cancel the round.

How do I know if anyone has requested to join a round I’m hosting?

Firstly you'll get emailed of a users request to join your round. If your unsure you can see the list of users who have requested to join your round by choosing the My Rounds page and selecting 'Select' on the round under the section entitled 'Rounds I Have organised'. Now on the page entitled 'Rounds I Am Hosting' you'll see an 'Attendees' section where users are split up between who has requested to attend your round and who you have already approved.

Can I change my mind after approving someone to join my round?

Yes, click 'Select' on the round you have hosted on your My Rounds page and select the user you wish to cancel from the list of approved user. Click 'Cancel This Users Attendance', you'll be asked to give a brief reason for cancelling them which will be emailed to them. The user will remain the the 'Requested to Attend' list so you can re-approve them.

Can I cancel a request to join a round but keep it in my alerts list?

Yes, in the My Rounds page, click 'Select' on the round under the 'Rounds I Have Joined' section and click 'Cancel My Attendance'. Enter a brief description of your reason for cancelling and click 'Submit' to confirm.


- Alerts -

What are alerts & why set them up?

When anybody organises a round on Fancy a Round, our system emails other users that have an alert setup matching the round criteria and lists the round in their members homepage for when they login. If you have a golf club in mind that you want to play at then you can be alerted automatically when someone plans a round by setting up alerts.

How do I setup alerts?

Hover over the 'Members Area' menu and choose My Alerts from the sub menu. Here you can see a list of alerts you have already setup, to add a new one click 'Add an Alert' and fill out the details on the 'Add Alert' screen.

I had an email alert about a round, how can I join it?

Rounds will automatically appear in your Members Area page when you get any alerts. They will remain here until you either the round takes place, you join the round, or you remove the alert.

Someone hosted a round at a club that I have an alert for but I didn’t get an email alert?

There are lots of options available when creating a round, it maybe that the round criteria doesn't match your alert critera, e.g. the day of the week may be different to one you have setup in your alert. Alternativly check you are receiving emails from Fancy a Round.com, if you're unsure if you are or not; check your email settings, e.g. junk mail.


- Rounds -

Whats on the My Rounds page?

The My Rounds page holds all records of your hosted and joined rounds, past and pending, allowing you to:

  • See all your pending rouinds and note if you have any actions you need to take: see a users request to join your round.

  • Administer rounds you've hosted by managing the members requesting to join you: approve, email members requesting to attend, cancel an approval and cancel the round if need be.

  • Manage rounds you have successfully joined: view the round details, email the host or cancel your attendance.

  • Manage feedback to be left on past rounds.

You have joined a round once the host has accepted your request to join and the round is moved from your members area to the My Rounds page.

To see details and manage members joining rounds you have organised simply click Select to get a detailed view. This link indicates any required activity, number of users currently in the round (include you) and total number to players; In this example you have one user requested to join and two out of four seats already filled in your round.

How long will past round remain on my rounds screen?

Data is subject to be purged from Fancy a Round currently around every six months.


- Feedback -

How do I leave someone feedback following a round?

Past rounds you organised or joined can be seen from your My Rounds page under 'Past Rounds I Have organised' and 'Past Rounds I Have Joined'. Click 'Leave Feedback' against a round and then click 'Leave Feedback' against the user you want to leave the feedback against. Enter your feedback in the text box and click 'Submit'.

I disagree with feedback I have received, what can I do?

Contact Us and tell us about it.

How long does feedback stay on my profile?

Forever! This is subject to change in the future.


- Profile -

How can I reset my password?
  • If you've forgotten your password and can't login; on the login page click 'I forgot my password...' at the bottom.

  • If you know your password by want to change it; hover over the 'Members Area' menu and select the 'My Profile' submenu to enter your profile page and click the 'Reset Password' button.
How can I change my profile picture?

Hover over the 'Members Area' menu and select the 'My Profile' submenu to enter your profile page and click the 'Change Profile Picture' button. Click 'Browse' to find the picture you wish to upload

How can I change my email address and other profile details?

Hover over the 'Members Area' menu and select the 'My Profile' submenu to enter your profile page. In the section entitled with your username click the Edit Profile button below. Make your changes and click Save Changes.  Hit Cancel Changes to change your mind.

How can I delete my account?

Why would you want to do that?? Fancy a Round is great and it's free! If you really want to delete your account you can click onto your profile page by hovering over the 'Members Area' menu at the top and clicking 'My Profile'. In the section entitled 'My Profile Options' hit the 'Delete Account' button... :(


- Emails -

I don’t seem to be getting any emails from Fancy a Round!
  • Check your email address is correct in your profile page.

  • Check the settings on your email account / software - perhaps Fancy a Round emails are going to your junk email folder.
My emails are being caught in my junk filter, how can I stop this?

If you’re using Outlook, either Outlook or another program is blocking the emails. Recent versions of Outlook will give a message at the top of the email stating if Outlook or another program added the email to the Junk items.

  1. If Outlook is putting the emails into junk; right click the email in the junk folder, choose Junk E-mail > Add Sender’s Domain (@example.com) to Safe Senders List.

  2. If you’re using Outlook connector with an account such as hotmail or live then from the Outlook menu bar choose Outlook Connector > settings > mail options. When the page loads login with your email details and click Safe and Blocked senders > Safe Senders > enter the blocked email, i.e. events@fancyaround.com and click Add to list.
My emails are coming through with a load of weird text on and I can't read them.

Our emails are sent in HTML format and you may need to enable your email software in order to see them properly.

Using Outlook?
